Angel Lake Campground is the kind of spot most backpackers would climb miles to see, yet is reached via a good paved road. The above-timberline setting makes privacy between sites moot, but chances are everyone is too busy oggling the scenery to notice you. Snowpack in the Ruby Mountains keeps this CG closed until mid-June, at least, although the road to the wide day-use area adjacent to the campground may be plowed sooner. A rare USFS gem.

Very special place with amazing scenery. Visits from the local cows at your campsite can be expected. :) Clean facilities with amazing views. Barking dogs not being corrected was my one complaint but that is more of a poor dog owner and lack of exercise problem I believe.

Busy Place
Beautiful alpine lake with amazing views and waterfall. Campground has plenty of tent spots. Spots that are big enough for RV's are about 25' - 30'. Some spots are reservable on recreation.com. Each space is has a picnic table, fire pit and bbq with grassy area. Restrooms, trash dump and non hookup water available. Host sells firewood. The rules are really lax up here which depending on how you feel is good or bad. Dogs tend to not be leashed and the quiet time ignored. Very busy and loud camping area as well as lake recreation area with lots of daily visitors that fish and play in the water. Note that a pumper sewer truck showed up at 6:30 pm Friday night and proceeded to pump out the restrooms for over an hour. Loud and stinky ☹
