Nice and clean. Like the other reviewer mentioned there is NO electricity or cell service at the park, water is available at the host station out on Forest Service Road. Firewood is available up the road, stop at the kiosk for directions. Hiking and backcountry camping is available in the area along with a nice stream to cool off in.
Cabela’s is just down the road in Prairie du Chein if you forget something.

The state has a new reservation system - it’s a good idea to check the site for availability. Starting Thursdays (stocking day) it can get much busier - but it is a very nice quite place to escape during the week. Very nice hiking trails and a beautiful trout stream.

Gem In Iowa
Stayed here 10/8/16. Found this place because the state park was full. Thank you state park for being full.... What a great find. Huge area with numerous camp sites. A great stream runs thru the whole camp site and had many people fishing for trout. Sites are reservable but we found several that were not taken. There are no services, just trees, grass lots, vault toilets. And gorgeous views. This area is also equestrarian but that camp area is separated. We were self contained in a rv, but many ppl ran generators. We only stated one night but wished we could have stayed a week. Several hiking trails. Best thing it was only $6 a night. There was a ranger that came around in the evening to check on payment placards. Great find. Will be back.
