Classic Sierra Camp

This camp resort at the west end of Silver Lake is a fun base camp for boating, fishing and hiking. The sites for big rigs are clustered near the office and are mostly shadeless and dusty though. We carefully crossed the creek in our 25' class A and carefully negotiated the dirt road up into "forest camp" with nice sites in the woods. This is a great area for truck campers too. Equestrians do group camping here at the resor and that gives the place a western feel also. There's a small restaurant and store. A boat launch is provided for fishing boats and kayaks, etc. The lake is beautiful with small beaches, granite sunning rocks, an island and seasonal waterfall. It gets relatively warm later in the season and is great for swimming.
