Best For Astronomy
The quietest, darkest camp. No idea if there are park rangers here, station always closed. Other campers very respectful of dark and quiet. I took some outstanding pictures, located 4 comets.

Fine for a 1 night stop
Copper Breaks State Park was a 1 night stopover for us. Sites are in a open grassy area, but nicely spaced. The bathroom was dated, but clean. There was no hot water for the shower. We didn't get to see the lake or hike any of the trails, but worked for a 1 night layover.

Copper Breaks State Park
Great campsite had electric and water. Nice trail out of site. Had shelter at each site with picnic table. Sites a good distance apart for a sp. Would do again.thumbs up.

Serene And Peaceful
Great quiet relaxing campground. It is a international dark sky site. Great for star gazing. Sites are almost 70 feet apart. Lots of activities hosted by park. Great hiking trails and a nice lake for fishing or swimming. Very friendly staff.

Beautiful Little State Park
This was an overnight stop for us between Dallas and Amarillo. Map says it's 20 min off of 287, took us more like 40 by the time you drive all the park roads to get to the campground, but it's a beautiful little park. Lots of grasses and wildflowers. Sites in Comanche have water and electric. Nice big sites but have to back in and windy since they're up on a hill. Dark sky at night. Unfortunately too many clouds to see the stars last night but hope to come back another time to try again. So quiet and peaceful! Will check out a bike trail or two before we leave.

A Subtle Treat
This isn't a place to look for spectacular views, but we enjoy the subtlety of the breaks topography cutting into the landscape. Use a hiking pole or a walking stick of some sort on the steeper trails to check for the occasional rattlesnake. The birding is fairly good. The campground we used has level water/electric sites with sheltered picnic tables. Another campground has water only sites.

Great Stop On A Long Day
The park is off the beaten path, very quite, lots of wildlife to observe. A longhorn herd. Everyone was very friendly. Restrooms were clean and showers had plenty of hot water. They had a couple of sites 28th FHU which aren't advertised. If they don't have a camp host in them then they are available, all you have to do is ask. Yes, We will stay there again. Next time longer so we can go fish in their, well stocked, lake!
