Amazing Park, But…
We stayed here 5 nights & I think they gave us the worst site in the campground (#178). 1) It was a long back in, but it plateaued at the top. I had to put the truck in 4WD to get it up there. Then the truck and trailer ended up at a weird angle making it almost impossible to unhook the trailer. 2) The door opened up to looking at a tree and stepping around roots 3) There’s a path the was made from the sites on top of the hill to the path to the pool. So we had people walking thru our site all day. Looking at the other sites the didn’t seem to have the same issues as ours. However, this is a beautiful park in a fantastic location. It’s close the Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Custer SP. Great views from almost every angle. The showers were really tight and pretty much the size of your typical toilet stall. Would stay here again, but would insist on a different site.

Stayed at Rafter J Bar Ranch for 5 days beginning Sept 9. Site 261 was a great site with plenty room and views of mountains. Good site for our 2 Golden Retrievers. Close to Mt Rushmore and Custer State Park and Hill City. Internet was not good at this site but we knew .that going in.

Beautiful Stay!
4.5, but had to round to 5. This place is gorgeous and incredibly spacious! By far the best rv camp I've stayed at, beauty and spacewise (stayed at about 20 for perspective). It is a HUGE resort with cabins in the back, a pool, basketball and volleyball courts, and walking trails. The grass was kept so well, it almost looked like a golf course. I am incredibly impressed! The only thing is when I made my reservation, I specifically asked if there was wifi and I was assured there was. However, upon arrival, I was then told that wifi was only at the office and extends to the pool area. I am obviously disinterested in leaving the comfort of my area to go to the office to use wifi (as I'm sure most travelers are) and would've appreciated that complete transparency when I asked. While they "technically" have wifi, it seems to be more for their workers' and not clients. They may want the change the advertisement to not give the impression that wifi is an available feature at your actual site.

Great Place to Stay
We stayed in the forest section in the back and really enjoyed our stay. They offer a pancake breakfast Thursday through Mondays, have a nice camp store, pool and playground. Showers were clean and the staff was friendly.

Luv This Park
On a historic ranch. Spread out and spacious. On a wonderful bike trail. I went brook trout fishing on the stream that runs through the park. Rode our bikes to Hill City and north. Visited the local wineries and brewery’s. Visited Mt. Rushmore, CrazyHorse and historic Deadwood. Wow! Clean park. So glad someone told us about this place.

Nice And Centrally Located.
Nice campground that was centrally located to all the major attractions. Deer walked right up to the camper every evening. Staying toward the end of the lower ranch camp the sites were on a grade and took everything I had to level the trailer. Staff was great and the camp store had all the necessities.

Nice Place
Very nice, we stayed at the island and were very happy. The ranch loop looked like another good option. It is pricey, we were willing to pay it but we're very disappointed that they had already emptied the pool and hot tub, it was only September 2nd. Would have appreciated a price reduction since we weren't able to experience all the amenities that were listed. Nice clean, well maintained park. The deer sightings every evening were a perk.

Great Central Location - Spacious Sites!
The grounds of this campground are beautiful! Large spacious sites for a private RV park. Amenities like pool, playground, and laundry very nice. Some highway noise in main camp but nothing that keeps you up at night. Next time would stay in line camp or lower ranch camp. Great central location for everything the black hills has to offer. 109 mile Mickelson gravel bike path right outside the campground.

Great Place
Spent 8 nights here. Cannot get any more centrally located in the black hills than rafter j. The ranch is very large and spread out which was great for us. The scenery was amazing. Could even see the fire lookout tower on black elk peak from the camper. Playground and pool were great for the kids when we got back from a day of sightseeing. I would recommend rafter j to anyone planning a black hills trip. And if I came to this area again I would stay here over any other campground we passed in the area.

Ok, But Would Stay Elsewhere
$$$$$ Very expensive, no cable TV, no Wifi, bathrooms very far away depending where your site is located. Sites are close together and depending where you are the rig is level but everything else is on a slope. No room at all to put up attached screen room. Beautiful views and scenery. Very nice pool and hot tub. Nice little store. Workers have no personality.

Excellent Stay (9/5-9/8)
Stayed in Ranch Camp (site 32). Kind of tight getting backed in (30ft TT) but once in, was perfect. Staff was excellent, location is perfect. Would definitely recommend.

May Stay
Stayed a couple of nights in May. Due to weather we did not stay as long as planned. We didn't like our original appointed site but had no problem changing it. Staff was courteous and helpful and park was well kept. If ever back in the area I would stay here again.

Big
The place is BIG! We didn't particularly care for the spot given [#62] - but it was doable; and since we were here early in their season [stayed May 15th, 2017], and as such, weren't many other campers, but sites in that area are close together.

Best The Black Hills Has To Offer
Stayed here 12 days while vacationing in the Black Hills. Great price, clean, awesome campus (people are not stacked on top of people), friendly staff. Pool views were amazing. Close to EVERYTHING. Can I give this place 10 stars?
