Well Worth A Stop
Not a campground, but an ideal place for a long lunch or rest. The hiway crosses a deep gorge cut by the Crooked River. Lots of birds in the gorge. There is a BNSF rail bridge that is a good place for train watching and photos. The old hiway bridge offers an excellent vantage place. Los of shade, clean restrooms. Oh, there is also some history about the P-38 mission that shot down Adm. Yamamoto during WWII. The mission Commander was from Culver, OR which is nearby. Lots of parking with easy access. There is a website with more details.
