Great campsite. 5+ miles from I94. Shady sites not on top of each other. Quite and inexpensive. No electric. Wild horses wander the campground. Really nice place to spend the night or longer.

Better Than We Could Dream
It is October and we came with a 32' RV and towed Jeep here from IL. 2 very windy days of travel to get here. It was well worth it. It is like an outdoor zoo with no pens except the park boundary fence. Wild Horses and bison galore. 2 Elk, mule deer, whitetail deer 12pt on crest, prairie dogs, pheasant, chipmunks, rabbits, coyotes galore, all encountered mostly in the first day. The hour before sunset is best time for viewing. Then the Milky Way! Staying 3-4 days in south unit; then 1-2 in the north unit. What a fantastic place to stay. No reservations needed in October and so far weather has been very good. No fire ring; you make a fire with wood fallen around on the flat stone area. We got a pull through site. There were many openings and we arrived near dark on a Friday night. We decided to dry camp of course with RV. So not really showering but it hasnt been bad because of cooler weather conditions 22F to 60F. The owl hooting woke me up a lot last night. Coyotes howling do too.

Just OK
Started out well with the male volunteer who helped us and assigned a site. He was great. Got settled in and went back to ask him a question and a woman volunteer (his wife?) was there and jumped into the conversation. She was a B..... Though he assigned us an even numbered (first come first served) site, THIS one is a full time reserved site in case park construction workers come in and need a site to stay in. She laid in to him, right in front of us, for giving us that site, and then told us we need to find another site and move there! She finally gave in and let us stay but said tomorrow we need to find another site and move. We got eaten alive, all night long, by no-see-ems that come right thru the screens. Picnic table and charcoal grill. We were told we can collect downed firewood...but no fire ring. Best thing about it was we could put up a N. Dakota sticker on our map now. $14, $7 with senior pass.

Great site 31
Good campground and pull thru sites are spacious and nice!! The park was nice and took a hike in the park. We saw the wild horses which was really nice to get to see. Well worth the 7 dollar fee with senior pass even though no electric. Verizon coveragebwas good at the campsite

$7 pass holders. No electric. Not good for big rigs unless you can reserve a pull through I am 24' and got in with little to spare. Sites are flat - few trees. But the park is wonderful. Saw wild horses and buffalo so far plus all the beauty. 36 mile loop to drive plus hiking

We loved this quiet, dark place to stay while exploring the park. What a beautiful National Park!
