A Great Getaway Even When Cold, Rainy
We visited this park in mid-March during a period of cold and rainy weather. Regardless, we had a great time. Bath house with private showers were great. Hikes were easy to get to with long boardwalks traversing the tidal salt marshes. Very beautiful despite weather and a feeling of isolation, even though Swansboro is close by. I highly recommend.

Small And Quaint
Sites are paved, level, and large. Electric at sites, water refill past dump station, trail and boat launch within walking distance. Did not use showers. Very convenient location near beaches. Some distant traffic noise during the day and occasional very distant marine base explosions that shake the entire area. Bugs not a big problem in November. We enjoyed it here and would stay again.

What a great campground. Electric at every site and you fill up water on your way in. We brought along a water tank in case we needed to refill but we were fine. The cranky camp host had a heart attack and is no longer there. The new camp host is very friendly so don’t let the old reviews keep you away. I can’t speak for the bathroom/shower facilities as we used the facilities in our camper. Close to Emerald Isle, Ft Macon and just a 45 minute drive to cape lookout/Shackleford ferries. We camped here in our 43 Ft fifth wheel. Site 20 is pull through and it says you share a picnic table with site 19 but that is incorrect. We will be back again!

Pretty place. Level, paved spots. Good size. Electric only, but water and dump station near by. Bathrooms good but showers lack some heat. Near beaches and attractions. Nice area.

Quiet, Trees,Great Place To Enjoy Nature
We enjoy and go often. Lots to do in the local area (if you want) the beach about 15 mins longer in summer, raceway on Saturday nights about 5-6 miles. Groceries and Lowe’s store about 4 miles, and same distance for fast food, if needed there is pizza and Chinese that can deliver. But... if you are camping and not glamping lol, they have pretty good showers ( not pristine) w/ Hot water but learn the ropes, a host available, small boats/kayaks ramp, hiking trail( 2 ) miles and just under and half is shaded bring bug spray or light long sleeves. I am a Glamper and I wear a mosquito net ( it’s funny looking but true). We do fires and marshmallows and hotdogs, even though we have a cool camper. This place is close to the perfect place for the wife and hubby who want a quick getaway in Carteret County.
