Perfect For Self Containers
No bugs or ticks in cool but sunny April! We're coming back. Wonderful beach and trail hikes. Enjoyed watching fishermen on beach. Loved all the seashells! Only cold water in showers.no burrs on dog paws in April! We lucked out!

In The Sand Dune Hills
Hilly, some spots have trees/bushes for some privacy, unlike the other campgrounds in this National park. A bit of a walk to the beach, but wooden walkways from the campground are really nice. Dry camping with water spigots near bathrooms. Cold showers, clean restrooms. Dump station close by near lighthouse. Mostly empty during the week in early Nov. Very quiet and quaint area. Caution, the road in floods easily so check the weather (we lucked out to miss the brunt of a tropical storm that flooded much of NC). Hated the horrible amount of sand burrs which embeded in our shoes and dog's paws. Enjoyed our stay here and will return.

Outdoor Showers
Be prepared if you come late in the season, the showers are outdoor stalls and it's cold in November! The toilets are super clean though. Great spot near the beach, cute little town, fairly cheap (but NO hookups or dump station) and near the Ocracoke ferry. The nearest dump station is near the British WWII cemetery if you are looking for it, near the other campground. *WARNING FOR PET OWNERS: the grass around here has some really prickly burrs/pickers in it that are painful and get stuck really easily on everything especially your dogs paws and fur. I think this is common around here but a pain in the butt to have to take your dog all the way to the beach to potty since they might not want to walk on the grass and bushes in the campground. Other than that, this place is truly beautiful and the beach is almost empty in the fall, perfect for beach combing and dogs to run.

Great Spot
Really nice campground. You can pick your spot and just mark it off on the map if you arrive late. Great rates too. No hook ups so you have to be self contained in an RV, but nice restrooms and showers available.
