Pleasant Enough
A nice little park with a lot of mature shade trees. Sadly, many of them are dying because of mistletoe. Bathroom and showers is just a 1 urinal, 1 seater (men's) for a fairly busy park. True, goat heads everywhere so watch your bike tires, shoes and pets paws. The park is surrounded by agricultural fields. The Rio Grande flows strong during agricultural growing season. Too fast for fishing unless you take the nice walk to the other side of the dam for calm water, with lots of shade. A good bargain. No septic dump on site. Must go to Caballo Lake campground or the Circle K in Hatch to dump.

We Stayed Too Long
First impression: gravel lot with RVs parked in convoy formation. Nose to butt on down the line--windshield full of my neighbor's rig. Not my preference for a view while camping. Luckily I had good Straight Talk phone service to keep me busy. Goat heads galore. We have liners in our bicycle tires so we still rode around in and outside the park. Bathroom was ok. Please watch for a doozy of a pot hole before the bridge coming in and I scraped my rig HARD on branches coming out of the park. Hardly saw the camp host compared to other NM state parks. Had minor trash in both sites we stayed in. No way would I stay here again.

So, So.
I can't say that I really liked this place. Not much to it. The electric sites are all jammed together and the primative sites are scattered around the lower area. The ground is covered with very sharp sticker burrs which get stuck on the bottoms of your shoes and makes walking a dog an issue. There's only one bathroom with flush toilets and it only had one stall in the men's room. Two shower stalls and only one flush toilet. There were a couple of vault toilets. I was there for 2 nights and probably won't be back.

Nice
This Is the type of park that we like. It is dusty and in the middle of farm country. Very scenic and quiet and not a lot to do. The Rio Grande is a short walk away and it’s scenic. Parallel pull throughs, our 35 ft class A and car fit nicely. Picnic table with roof. Fire ring. Very clean bath house. Hot showers. Recommended. We paid with NM pass. Some have 50amps, some 30. Dry area which is near playground. Vaults. Mostly level sites. Easy and road paved all the way.

A Favorite Stop
We always stop for a night or two here on our way through New Mexico. Great birding, quiet, either with hookups or without. The new system is all hookup sites are reservation only, but we pulled in, found an empty site and made an online reservation on the spot. Did a quick walk along the river before sunset and saw 29 bird species. Nice!

Traveler
Great park! Quiet too! Only thing is, we arrived at night not knowing our arrival date in advance. All camp sites we checked with our lights were “reservation site only”. There were many unoccupied sites. We checked with the host, but no one was there. We paid the fee, and camped at one of the many empty sites.

Stayed here for a quick night. Sites are clean and well kept, though it did give the feeling of circus cars all lined up in a row. Bathrooms are clean however we had to take our own soap to wash our hands. Not a bad place for a quick, inexpensive night.

2nd Time Out
Been here for a couple days now and have really enjoyed it. Besides some wind yesterday the weather has been great for this time of year. Camp Hosts have been wonderful and the facilities are well taken care of. Water, electric, showers, flush toilets available for those who want that, then less developed sites available as well. Definitely worth coming back.

Nice Getaway
I've been coming here for several years and really like this place. There are some really nice sites right by the river with huge trees for shade. The camp host is very nice and friendly as well. Beautiful scenery with mountain vista's in the distance.
