Lake Creek CG Kootenai NF, MT 3600’ FREE The creek is the only water source. Free camping for up to 16 days. Pack it in, pack it out. Signs and locals advise that it is Grizzly Bear country. The dog growled and barked into the woods a couple nights alerting us of something out there. Lots of dead on the ground firewood available. 8 sites with a few larger sites that have a bear box in those spots; although a couple other spots in the area have been made into its own site. 2 vault toilets that the door doesn’t lock. Huckleberry and chokecherry foraging was in season earlier in the mornings. Lots of locals came to harvest.
