Pretty Nice Campground
The good: very nice staff. FHU. Other campers very nice and respectful of fellow campers. Level sites. Near the lake for fishing and swimming. Many sites at least partially shaded. The "eh": water pressure is low. Our pressure regulator is set for 45 lb, but reading was 30 lb. Dumpsters are there, but are few and far between. The "bordering on bad": they don't seem to monitor abuse of site privileges very well. We saw numerous sites with a large camping trailer, tow vehicle, a second vehicle, a golf cart, and a trailer for the golf cart all parked at one site. One site had a 45' class A parked in a 35' site, with a toad and a golf cart with trailer. All of these encroaching the road, making it difficult to navigate the road and to back into your site. Sites on the water are a little higher in price, but all still very reasonable. Our site, #72, regular $28/senior rate $17.

Lake Oriented Clean Park
This is very clean and quiet park. It is lake oriented, so boats and fishing are what this park is all about. Don't expect a back to nature woods experience. There is only one hiking trail which is 1.5 miles long. It does offer a lot of campsites, cabins, and pull through sites. Pull through sites are tight without much space between sites. Staff are friendly and helpful. It does have 3 disc golf courses but they are not well marked. The park also has a splash pad. Close to Hattiesburg, Camp Shelby, and the Armed Forces Museum. There is also a nice indoor flea market just a few miles from the park. My rating is based on lack of woods and trails. But if you have a boat and like to fish, this is a very nice park.

Great Campground
This is a great place to stop. Although we thought we wanted on the north half of the campground, the south end by the lake is the best in my opinion...we stayed in 105, level, with water, elecric, and sewer. Would stop here again

Great State Park
Stayed at the end of November and park was 10 percent full at the most. Lots of awesome lakeside sites. Plenty of full hookups and an infield for larger pull through camping. We stayed at a pull through but should have explored. Many nice sites with easy back in parking. Beautiful views, good bathhouses and a laundry. This was our first Mississippi state park stay and we want to check out others hoping this is representative.

Beautiful park & lake. Quiet, peaceful, & relaxing. Our site 90 is a pull threw facing the lake. Site is a little snug side to side but do able. Concrete pad, full hookup. Only issue park did maintenance on a water pipe & turned off the water for a day & a half but never notified us, had I known I would have topped off my fresh water tank. Lesson learned. Will return on future visits.

Site #84
We were in site #84. We love staying at Paul B Johnson. It is a very nice park to stay at, quiet, peaceful, and everybody (even the staff) are so friendly. The only issue we had was with the site itself it was very unlevel we were trying to use the auto leveling on our new camper and it kept throwing up error codes but we finally used manual mode and got level. Then the pavement had about a 6-8" drop off and a tree so close we could only roll the awning out maybe 4'. The site itself is considered a premium site but other than the fact of being within 15' of the water there is nothing premium about the site. most of the standard sites are setup a little better. But that is just our opinion of site #84 not to bash the rest of the park or campsites. We love the park and will definitely be back again and highly recommend this park to everyone.

Nice State Park
Enjoyed our stay. Park is clean and well kept. Quiet and peaceful place by a nice lake. Would advise to check carefully before booking as some sites are not level and slope badly from front to rear. Also noted several sites with eroding blacktop on the sides making for a 6 to 8 inch drop off outside the patio area. We were in site #38 which was fairly level ( slight slope to the front ) and had level patio area.
