Reservation Not Honored

Arrived today with reservation in hand. We made the reservation back in March. Upon arrival, the marina office attendant told us that when we made the reservation in the winter, it was the lodge/casino that took our reservation and assigned a site number. Apparently, the lodge/casino does not communicate with the marina office since the marina office is closed during the winter. Hence, our reservation was essentially non-existent. We were lucky. There was an empty site, not the one we had reserved, which we were allowed to take. Hopefully, the site we ended up with is not a site someone else made a reservation for starting today, this past winter or later and is expecting it to be empty. What a mess. Sites are grass/weeds with full hook ups. Plenty of space between sites. Some sites have views of the lake/marina. Bathroom/shower house is old. Needs an update.

We spent 4 nights. What a beautiful view. Enjoyed our stay. Casino is very nice as well. Would stay again

NICE VIEWS

We had a nice FHU PT overlooking the water during our short stay. We were in town to hike the state park & to catch the ferry over to Isle Royal National Park. The staff is friendly. The casino restaurant was good & the amenities were what we would expected in a more remote area.

Everyone here was so friendly! The kids absolutely loved the heated indoor pool, whirlpool, and sauna. It was a quick hop to the ferry for Isle Royale in the morning, and we were able to stop into the Grand Portage Nat'l Monument for a bit of local history while here. We didn't use the fire pit as it was on a sloped hill, but that didn't matter with the kids in the pool at every chance they got anyways.

Staff was great Great customer service. Stayed a little over a week, late in the season not very many people. The only washing machine in the laundry room is out of order. Lots of sea gulls and geese.

Great Place To Camp

We camped here 3 nights while visiting Isle Royale and Grand Portage NM. Nice, large, level sites. No cell. Wifi barely worked but good connection was available at Casino. They do have restrooms and laundry. Convenient to marina and launch site to island, and everything we wanted to see. Quiet and spacious sites, good for a great nights sleep.

We camped here in a 43 Ft motorhome. There are both back in and pull thru sites. Lots of room between sites. Advise making advance reservations. Nearest shopping is probably Grand Marais, about 35 miles south.
