Loved It
Stay for a long holiday weekend in February and had a fantastic experience. Staff was friendly and gave lots of helpful tidbits and advice, such as the best place to watch the sunset. Scenery was amazing, even in the low temps that we had. Campsites were nice, bathrooms very clean. No playground but plenty to do (for an extra fee) nearby at the amusement area.

Beach Closed For 2023
They just announced that the beach will be closed, no swimming, only sun bathing at the beach. Campground on an island at the most visited lake in the south and you can swim at the beach. They have placed a fence about 1 foot inside the water line all along the beach. Local channel 5 new reported.

Awesome Spot
Camp ground is great full concrete pads all well maintained. Most sites have great views of the lake as well. Our site was 28 which is a great site it faces a cove and has access to a small beach area. Not much grass or a flat spot for bags or games at the site but that was ok. After talking with staff the section we were in was phase one phase two is complete as well and they are working on phase three now. My negatives would be no pool in campground area, this I feel should be done for those who do not do water parks or lakes or just to be able to cool down while kids are at the water park. Laundry and bath houses very clean and comfortable put only one shower per house in two locations and the laundry needs to be upgraded to accommodate cards or at least a change station. Other than that all was great, would defiantly go again and yes they are under staffed which is sad but everyone is due to the way the world is but they still were able to make it a great week.

John Deere Man
This is a beautiful campground. Cleanest campground I’ve ever seen. Don’t believe those reviews from 2018. Totally redone. Highly recommended

Stunning!!!! You Found Margaritaville
This park is a clean as you will ever find, plenty to do and soooo many amenities, Yes...there is a white sand beach in the mountains of Georgia!
There is also a water park that is an additional cost, the beach has live entertainment on a floating stage, tiki bar, Landshark Bar & Grill that was very good.
Plenty of Marinas and even boat rentals, lots of other restaurants within a short drive also.
The ONLY thing I can say negative is the lack of privacy at the sites, the sites are plenty large though.
We rode our bikes throughout the park, we found the best site to be #20.
Our next stay (definitely be back very soon) will be on that site, beautiful, unobstructed views of the lake and the most privacy.

Updated Campground
Management was very helpful. The resort is now called Margaritaville RV Resort. The sites are clean and spacious.

Stay Away!! Idiot Employees/Staff Membe
Horrible! Absolutely the most disgusting experience I've ever come across at any parks. As soon as we got there a nice lady who was walking nearby our camp told us to watch out for obnoxious staff members who supposedly often issue huge fines for every little thing they can. And sure enough 5 minutes later 2 idiot volunteers came by and started complaining to us about the 2 extra cars that we just temporarily parked there in order to unload few things. Fair enough, we told them we'd move the cars shortly. Then they started making up rules about requiring to have a tent setup in-place in 30 minutes or less or else we can't be at the park and they would have to kick us out?? Like really? Who does that?? We weren't being loud. We didn't have any music playing. We didn't bother anybody. We didn't even have any neighbors nearby. My friends didn't want to deal with any of this any further and decided to just leave. Out of all the parks in the world, this one I would stay away from this one.

Shame
Drove there June 2, 18 to check which site to book.
Lanier Islands is great, not so much for the camp ground. It’s pretty rough and in dire need of clean up and maintenance.
Let’s hope the new owners get around to it soon
