Spring Training & Drag Races
Stay here for 13 nights and enjoyed the area. We attend a Pirates home game and Orioles home game. Also took in the Pro Mod World Series drag race. The sites are very large and nicely spaced. You can hear the drag racers but it is not intrusive. Took a day trip out to Ana Maria Island which was fantastic. Food stories are close by about 6- miles. Bath rooms and showers are clean. Bugs are not bad. Ants were our biggest problem. Staff is friendly. Will stay here again.

Nice Large Site
We enjoyed our camping stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Some noise from nearby drag race tracks.

Very Nice Except For Flies
Very nice campsites. Quite a few are very shady. Quite a bit of privacy and they are mostly large enough to menauver a camper around. Restrooms were mostly clean and well-stocked. Only complaint is that we were inundated with flies when we tried to sit outside. Not exaggerating. Set down a glass of sweet tea and there would be a half dozen flies in it in less than a minute. This was in July. Maybe winter season might be better. That was really the only downside.

Nice and quiet
This is a well run park with friendly staff and equally friendly patrons. Online booking is the norm for FL state parks but we were accommodated on an extra site due to a reservation in the middle of our stay at our site. Call the park if this happens to you and they will be happy to help. It was a bit low and tight for our 38' class A and we rubbed the trees a bit in and out and experienced some unpleasant listing into the site due to a steep transition from the pavement to the sand and shell site, but not enough to cause damage. Dump was easily navigated and not crowded. 30amp, no full hook-ups, and 22/night. We enjoyed it overall.

Nice level sites separated by trees to give privacy. Many back up to a little trail. Restrooms are clean and showers have good hot water. You might hear the nearby water treatment plant humming and an air boat from the county was on the lake at 7:30am, but overall a pleasant place to camp.

Head Honcho
We are currently staying here. We came from Ohio to be in Sarasota for 6 weeks for my husbands cancer treatments. We’ll leave tomorrow as they said we could only stay till Friday to to reservations. It’s clean, quiet, (except for the couple arguing last night), and pretty here. My first camping experience in a pop up in a state park.

Nice Park
Quiet, clean, with large sites and privacy. Close enough to bike ride Legacy Trail, go to local beaches, or kayak in Lido at free county park. Also dog friendly!

Great State Park.
We spent a week or so there and enjoyed our stay very much. We had family in the area so it was very convenient. It was also convenient to any amenity that you could possibly ever want. And we definitely would return here. The price is a little more if you're not a Florida resident over 65.

Spacious Sites
We truly enjoyed our5 day stay here. No sardine can sites here- plenty of wooded area between campers. We heard coyotes one night- music to my ears. The camp host and rangers were very friendly. Bathrooms were clean and each site had 4x4 posts to hang a laundry line. They have a bin to recycle- something that’s important to us, too. There’s a swimming beach and boat launch. We saw a gator near boat launch. Only a 10 mile drive to nearby town. We’d come here again.
