Better Than Others Nearby
Sites are small and unlevel. We have a 35' TT and barely made it into one by parking diagonally. About half are solar friendly and half are shady. Toilets are porta-potties, not pit toilets. No water spigots, but there is free potable water about 4 miles down the road. Steel fire rings provided, so you can have a fire (no fires in rock fire rings). We thought it was kind of expensive for what you get - $28, $14 with senior pass - but we are in California. 3 stars because, with all of the negatives, Moraine is still a better campground than any of the others along Tioga Pass Rd for bigger rigs. We tried Aspen, which advertised sites that can handle 40' rigs, but the road was VERY narrow, with trees RIGHT on the edge of the road. Even though there were some sites thar were long enough, there was no room to maneuver to get in. Fairly close to Yosemite gate - took us 20 min, but we stopped along the way to take pics. No cell service.

Get Away From The Crowd!
Moraine is actually an overflow campground for Big Bend Campground which is a liitle further west and higher. It is more isolated and a little more primitive. Great for getting away from the crowd. Very nice, secluded setting in trees with most sites close to the creek. Access is from Poole Powerline Road, and the entrance is not very well signed from Tioga Hiway. Vault toilets, water is nearby but out of the camping area. Bear boxes for tent camper food storage.
