Hidden Jewel
I was the campground host for six months (2022) at Basalt Campground. They closed it during the repairs to the dam. It was a bit of a primitive campground while I was there, but there was talk about making some major improvements. I real hope they did because it had a lot of potential. Lots of birdwatchers would drop in because they claim it was a stop-off for migrating birds. I did see some exotic birds while I was there.

A Little Too Close For Comfort
I would of given more stars if this campsite were closer to the water. The campground is set up in a very small area which I felt was a little crowded. Would of been nice if campsites were spread out a little more but that’s not how it works unless you’re boon docking I guess. Heard owls at night which is cool and coyotes, beautiful sunset. Was pretty loud with kids, dogs, generators until 10:45pm ... just FYI if you’re looking for a peaceful spot to camp I would pass.

Great Spot To Camp
We always enjoy a spot that has access to a view of water and great hiking available. This spot did what we hoped for.

Quite with Wildlife
We are here on a weekday in November. There is only one other camper here. We have seen elk eagles and owls. Right now the campground is very quiet. There are paved pull ins for RVs. The washrooms are clean. Need quarters for the shower. Campsite costs $28 for senIors, $30 regularly.
There are no hookups but there is a dump station on the way out.
Nice hiking trails.
