Pros/Cons
I booked two days at this site last minute. Pros: the campsite and bathrooms are very clean. Has amazing city views from your RV. Can fit RVs over 30 feet long. Has full-hook ups. Cons: You can’t park your RV next to the lake, so you can’t see the lake from your RV. Can’t burn fire wood. Can’t have more than 2 licensed vehicles at your campsite (RV is considered a license vehicle). Rangers pass by a lot! We even got questioned about our vehicles. One ranger gave me a hard time about it. I had to park 1 of 3 of my vehicles down the mountain in the middle of the night. He was clearly making it a problem. Also I had to pay an additional 5.00 to park down the mountain. Luckily I had some local friends to drive me back up. I would come back though because of the city views at night. Seemed pretty safe. This place would be great for camping in your tents.

Pretty Place, Better For Tents Than RV’s
Dixon Lake is a pretty park with great trees & lake to fish, better suited to tents than RV camping. While there are about 10 hook up sites, most will only fit small RV’s or trailers. We booked site 14, a 41x18 site at the end of a road, for our 35’ Class A motorhome,. The picnic table area was on a lower level & the hookups were right on the road. There was no obvious parking space for the RV other than across the end of the cul-de-sac. Other sites were on each side & one tent site now had its entrance behind our RV! Fortunately, the other campers were friendly and we shared the area amicably. Rangers came by on their rounds and we thought they might suggest a different approach, but they didn’t. 14 was a level site, unlike others which had sloping approaches to a short pad & some where the pad was parallel & right on the road. The tent sites were nice, secluded, under beautiful old pines, many with lake views. We enjoyed our 2 night stay and would come back. Close to Safari Park.
